“Compassion”– The Lady of Harbor (11/20)

Laura, a member of a church I served on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, gave me a CD a few years ago. I hope you will listen to the music from the CD. It touches something deep within one awakening empathy. Theologian David Hogue writes: “Entering into the experience of another’s distress is not just a matter of our humaness; empathy is the ground from which our relationships of care grow.”

On the subject of care and government, these words from Thomas Jefferson:

The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction,
is the first and only object of good government.

In my heart, mind and soul, I believe it is time for forward movement on immigration. I say YES to immigration. I say NO to those who with malice threaten another shutdown of government. Thank back to what that was like.

Two questions to ask yourselves:

Would the Compassionate Christ reject immigrants?
Would the Compassionate Christ shut down the government with malice?

As always, I welcome your thoughtful responses.

PLEASE! Listen to the music with a prayerful and open heart. In your heart, mind and soul, what is the next right thing to do?

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
-Emma Lazarus

“Be compassionate as God is compassionate.” [Luke 6:36]

With you in awakening to God’s Presence in our midst.

We are all sparks of the Divine flame
Blessed Be
Compassionate Be
Boldly Be
